Research Interests

Topics: Behavior of 2D-flakes in dispersion with respect to their chemical composition and particle-solvent interactions, Process and surface engineering of 2D-flakes: from powder to coating, Optimization of technical 2D-flakes formulation considering their final application in devices

Why 2D materials:2D-flakes and the processing of them interestingly touch a number of different topics e.g. dispersions and solutions, process and surface engineering. Even though they have promising properties for a number of applications, they lack implementation yet on a larger scale. One issue is not only synthesis, but also the transfer to the final substrate. This project is to find these processing routes first for rigid, than for flexible substrates. By this, it is fascinating to work on establishing a relatively new and young generation of materials and coatings.
