Yesterday, June 27th, 2026, 2D-MATURE took part in ExtraSchicht – the Night of Industrial Culture, bringing the fascinating world of two-dimensional materials to the people of Duisburg!

For around six hours, our doctoral researchers welcomed visitors at our stand, answering questions, sharing their knowledge, and introducing them to the extraordinary properties of 2D materials – with a special focus on graphene.

Using plastic models and crystal samples, they demonstrated what makes these materials so unique and explained how their remarkable properties could shape future technologies.

It was a special opportunity to step beyond the lab, engage in conversations with the local community, and make cutting-edge research accessible to everyone. Our doctoral researchers did a fantastic job of sharing their enthusiasm for science and showing that research is not only about making discoveries, but also about communicating them.
