The third and final week of our 2D-MATURE summer school had arrived so quickly.
On Monday and Tuesday our PIs did a great job in delivering their lectures and herewith teaching our second cohort of young scientist all about 2D materials needed to do ground breaking research.

To liven things up and boost motivation, we created a quiz on the topic and honored three proud winners.

On Wednesday it was our doctoral researchers’ and master’s students’ time to shine – presenting their own project topics and ideas in poster sessions…

…and of course showing their results of the group work done here in Duisburg during the last couple of days.

Besides scientific input, we trained our young scientists in literature work, scientific writing and EDI. Thanks Felix Schmidt (University of Duisburg-Essen), Dan Csontos (Elevate Scientific & Elevate Scientific Academy) and Mayannah Dahlheim (University of Duisburg-Essen) for the motivating workshops.

On Thursday and Friday, we welcomed our guests Guido Fratesi (Università degli Studi di Milano), Cedric Huyghebaert (Black Semiconductor GmbH), Matt Heuft (Evercloak), Max Lemme (RWTH Aachen University), Jan Mischke (AIXTRON SE), Bjørn Gading Solemsli (LayerOne) and Andrej Turchanin (University of Jena), who made our third 2D-MATURE symposium possible. Thanks so much for the inspiring talks and discussions. Too bad that canceled trains due to the heat wave stopped Benjamin Groven (Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre) from joining.

The weather didn’t stop us from visiting UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein and having a lovely dinner at our beloved Finkenkrug.

It was so nice to have our Canadian colleagues with us. Have a safe trip going home or to Graphene Conference in Barcelona starting next week.
